MID WEEK MOSS FEED: The wide leg trousers

You don't need to be catwalk tall to wear wide leg slacks.

At 5 ft 7 Kate rocks them flaired, tailored, flowing and palazzo. I especially love the middle pleat black pair (second pic down). I personally have only worn wide legs around the office but am seeking out the perfect pair to take from latte to vino. This crepe pair from ASOS look v tempting. Soft fabric and a high rise waist are a must.

Did someone say floral?

Let's face it. I'm a girly girl through and through.

Minimal and monochrome may be an every day mantra but I have to confess that I'm a sucker for a good print, yes, even a floral print, but let me explain...

Recently, the fabulous Margaret Zhang blogged about the floral hesitation that plagues most of the women I know. For my part I grew up with girlfriends always raising a brow or politely refusing any suggestions of flowery themed prints in their dressing room. They would usually follow up the veto with an explanation that said floral or print either gave off a "grandma vibe" or screamed a frilly, hair twirling girly girl look.

As for me, florals and prints find their way into my wardrobe in all sorts and forms. Granted I can't be taken too seriously when sporting a print like this one, but who really cares when it adds a pop of fun and colour into an otherwise dreary autumn day? I should also add that there are some kinds of floral that even I am not OK with - usually the less abstract and overly colourful splashes - but on the whole whether it be polka dots, stripes, paisley or floral, prints say playful and as with all things, in moderation and in good taste they are a dimension of style that I will happily wander in and out of.

When Kate lights up

I detest smoking. I really do. But between Monroe, Mad Men and Bradshaw, in media a ciggy with your poison suggests sex appeal, rebellion and glamour. No one does it better than Moss -  a notorious chain smoker known for writing in routine ciggy breaks into her modelling contracts. When Kate lights up, it's not a dirty habit - it's fabulous.

MIDNIGHT BLUE

Engagement party wear

First - something contemporary - I usually steer clear from coloured lace but the high neck and deep hue of this crop kept the look feminine and subtle.

Second -  something sophisticated - if you're like me and you love tailored and edgy, be sure to balance a more daring silhouette with a fabric and colour that's understated. The cameo fallen skirt is so flattering on the waistline and the pleats are super cute and really pull the look together.

Last - striking makeup - I don't really steer very far from my "everyday" makeup look.  Bold eyebrows are a must, a smokey eye and some clever contouring always do well for an evening look and the cheeks were a little more flushed than how they photographed.
